Elk Hunt FAQs

What to Know Before You Go

We want every hunter who joins us to feel confident, informed, and fully prepared before stepping into the backcountry. Whether it’s your first time chasing elk or you're a seasoned hunter looking for a new challenge, we’re here to make sure you know what to expect. From physical preparation and licensing questions to gear recommendations and camp life, we’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you plan your best hunt yet.

  • When is the best time to hunt elk with you?

Our elk hunts run during the peak of the rut, typically in September for archery and into October for rifle. This is when elk are vocal, active, and highly responsive.

  • What’s included in the hunt package?

Your hunt includes guide service, meals, lodging in wall tents, pack-in/out on horseback, and field prep of your animal.

  • How physically demanding is the elk hunt?

Elk hunting involves hiking at elevation and can be physically challenging. A good base level of fitness is highly recommended.

  • Can I bring a non-hunting guest?

Yes, non-hunting guests are welcome for an additional fee. It’s a great way to share the backcountry experience.

  • Do you help with tags and licensing?

Absolutely — we’ll guide you through the licensing process and help you apply for the correct tags based on your hunt and residency.
